Crossarm or machine bolts are used in the pole line industry. They have square heads and a semi-cone point and typically come with a square nut assembled. They are also typically hot-dip galvanized in order to protect the steel. We can manufacture crossarm bolts up to 1-1/2″ in diameter. Crossarm bolts follow the thread length guidelines used for pole line fasteners.

Carriage bolts (round head with a square neck) are commonly used in wood connections. The square neck under the round head will seat into the hole in the wood to prevent the head from turning. Because they are used with wood, carriage bolts are rarely high strength and virtually always supplied in a standard ASTM A307 specification. Manufacturing Saffron Fasteners manufactures carriage bolts from 1/4″ diameter through 1-1/4″ diameter in most ASTM, AASHTO, and SAE specifications. Special tooling can be created to produce nonstandard head dimensions, carriage bolts larger than 1″ in diameter, or bolt heads with your company’s name and/or logo.

Headed anchor bolts are different from bent anchor bolts or anchor rods, because the non-threaded end has a forged hex, heavy hex or square head. The headed end is embedded into concrete foundations to secure structural steel columns, light poles, bridge rail, and substation structures. Available specifications include, but are not limited to, ASTM F1554, A449, and A307. Note: A threaded rod with a welded nut IS NOT a headed anchor bolt and should not be substituted for an anchor bolt requiring a forged head without approval from the Engineer of Record. Manufacturing Saffron Fasteners manufactures headed anchors from 1/2″ through 4″ diameter in many different ASTM specifications. They are provided either plain finish or hot-dip galvanized.

Timber bolts are also referred to as dome head, fender head, safety head, and mushroom head bolts. In the Pacific Northwest, they are referred to as economy bolts. They are used in marine and wood applications. The underside of the large, rounded, low-profile head of a timber bolt has two nubs or fins which prevent the bolt from turning in the timber. The oversized timber bolt head eliminates the need for a malleable iron washer, and therefore reduces costs. Manufacturing Saffron Fasteners manufactures timber bolts from 1/2″ diameter through 4″ diameter in most ASTM, AASHTO, and SAE specifications. Special timber bolt tooling can be created to produce nonstandard head dimensions or bolt heads with your company’s name and/or logo.

Heavy hex structural bolts are designed for steel-to-steel structural connections. Consequently, they are typically very short. The A325 and A490 specifications are not intended for general applications, including anchor bolts. In these applications, substitutions of A449 for A325 and A354 grade BD for A490 should be considered. Manufacturing Saffron Fasteners manufactures A325 and A490 heavy hex structural bolts from 1/2″ diameter through 1-1/2″ diameter, typically in lengths longer than those which are normally available in the marketplace.
